Can the Student Wellness Specialist Write an Exemption Letter for Concessions?

The Student Wellness Specialist is a registered professional, registered with either the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a registered counsellor or with the South African Council for Social Service Professionals (SACSSP) as a registered social worker. Therefore, the Student Wellness Specialist is not able to write an exemption letter for a concession. Students are required to apply for an accommodation / assessment concession via the IIE Assist platform, where the student will be required to submit the necessary supporting documentation.

For an assessment accommodation where a student experiences barriers to learning, students are expected to submit a full Psycho-Educational Assessment conducted by an external Educational Psychologist / Psychometrist.

The Student Wellness Specialist can provide referral options to students of external Educational Psychologists / Psychometrists who will be able to assess the student.

Should you require additional information about the wellness services / booking of counselling consultations, please reach out to the Student Wellness Specialist.
