The Student Wellness specialist and Student counsellor located on your campus are registered professionals, registered as a social worker with the SACSSP or a registered counsellor with the HPCSA, which grant/authorise license to practice, and further oversee the ethical standards of practicing health care professionals.
The student wellness specialist is responsible for community engagement initiatives on and off campus, these initiatives ensure sustainability and assist in the development of nation building through empowering individuals to make meaningful contributions to their spheres of influence. Along with community engagement, the Cares committee on campus are instrumental in ensuring the successful implementation of wellness initiatives.
Your student counsellor on campus is your primary counsellor and provides students will the opportunity to book free and confidential counselling sessions, limited to 6 sessions per student and available to discuss psychological, academic, personal or any challenge you may be experiencing. The student counsellor on campus is also responsible for providing relevant awareness campaigns, which talk to current challenges or trends taking place globally or internationally, these take the form of workshops, discussions, support groups and more.
