Do I qualify for a deferred test/exam sitting?

What is a deferred assessment?

A deferred sitting/ submission is the postponement of the point at which assessments are submitted.

To ensure that reasonable accommodations are made for students to complete their assessments, students who are unable to complete or submit an assessment as stipulated in the standard sitting who have legitimate reasons for missing the standard sitting/submission, can apply to write in the next sitting known as a deferred sitting/ submission.

These are accommodated as follows:

  • For deferment applications for invigilated formative assessments, students who have been approved will write the missed test in the deferred test sitting as per the Programme Assessments Schedule (PAS)
  • For deferment applications for invigilated summative assessments, students who have been approved will write the missed summative in the next available summative assessment sitting (Supplementary or Dean’s Exam sitting) as per the Programme Assessments Schedule (PAS)
  • For deferment applications for non-invigilated formative and summative assessments, students who have been approved will be required to make their submission/ resubmission for the missed non-invigilated assessment within 5 working days of the original due date of the missed submission.
