What should I do if I miss an assessment due to illness?
Own serious illness/ injury is recognised as one of the typical legitimate reasons with evidence where students can apply for a deferred assessment opportunity.
If you are seriously ill during an assessment period or when an assessment is due, you can apply for a deferred assessment with your medical certificate valid for the standard submission/sitting and indicating a serious illness/ injury. Applications must be made via the Student Hub either before, or within five working days of the missed standard sitting/submission and are granted at the discretion of the Office of the Registrar. If a student does not apply for a deferred sitting/submission on time with the required evidence or is denied the deferred sitting, the student’s record will reflect “absent”, and the student will effectively receive 0% for the missed assessment.
If I am sick, can I send my doctor's note to my lecturers?
Students do not need to send doctors notes to lecturers, all applications with documentary evidence must be uploaded to the Student Hub for approval. The application status (approved or declined) is provided to the campus and the lecturer will be informed by the campus.
