When should I start preparing for Showcase?

Showcase provides two platforms:

  • Showcase (On campus)

The date is marked in the year calendar, usually in semester 2 after week 12.

You can set-up your display one day before the event.

  • Showcase Profiles and Portfolios (Online)

The page on the Vega website goes live one week after the on-campus event.

You can submit your work via a submission link 5 weeks before the page goes live.

It is important to start crafting and refining all your project work throughout the second semester. This will assist in the process of deciding which pieces to display for each platform.

Your display at the Showcase presents your unique personality and personal branding, which will require some time to conceptualise and plan. This process involves considerable self-reflection. It is recommended to give yourself sufficient time throughout the semester to develop and refine the concept and elements required for your Showcase display.

The printing of posters and all paper-based elements is time consuming and requires careful planning. It is also important to source and book a suitable printer in your area, as the printers are all busy at this time of year and cannot always accommodate tight deadlines.

Showcasing a personal portfolio website requires that you register a domain name and source a suitable hosting platform. This can be time-consuming and requires careful planning.

If your display requires physical elements and three-dimensional artefacts, it is worth planning the delivery and installation of these elements in advance.
