A mini dissertation is an individual research project which forms part of a coursework Masters. A dissertation tends to be more comprehensive in its scope whereas a mini dissertation is smaller in scope. In terms of word limits, a dissertation is typically about 60 000 words whereas a mini dissertation is typically about 30 000 words, although this does depend on the discipline and the institution.
