Do I have to go to court if I become a lawyer?

There are many different kinds of lawyers and many specialisations within the legal profession.  Some lawyers are keen on litigation and enjoy arguing in front of a magistrate or judge and representing their clients in this way.

Other lawyers would prefer to be less confrontational – they may rather go to the route of mediation or arbitration for example.  Specialist areas of legal practice such as conveyancing seldom require appearance in contentious courtroom situations.
