Is The IIE's LLB the same as an LLB from a public university?
Yes, an LLB degree from a South African private institution of higher education (such as The IIE) is in all respects and with regard to regulation and governmental accreditation the equal of any LLB degree from a South African public university. In Independent Institute of Education (Pty) Limited v Kwazulu-Natal Law Society and Others the Constitutional Court in 2019 declared that a Bachelor of Laws graduate of The IIE is eligible for admission and enrolment as a legal practitioner in terms of the Legal Practice Act 28 of 2014.
