The Student Wellness Specialist and / or Student Counsellor are registered professionals, registered with either the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a registered counsellor or with the South African Council for Social Service Professionals (SACSSP) as a registered social worker, therefore they are not licenced nor governed to administer medication or write prescriptions. The Student Wellness Specialist and / or Student Counsellor may recommend and refer students to an external Mental Health or Medical practitioner who would be best positioned to assist with the student’s treatment needs.
