
Do I need to apply for the Supplementary/Resubmission Sitting and pay a fee?
Students do not need to apply for subsequent assessment opportunities which they qualify for such as a supplementary assessment/ resubmission opportunity. However, students will only be provided with a supplementary assessment/ resubmission opportunity if performance standards are met.
The performance standards to be eligible for a supplementary assessment/ resubmission opportunity are as follows:
- For modules at NQF levels 5,6 and 7:
Students need to attain an overall module mark of between 40% and 48% AND achieve at least 30% in their summative assessment. Students who achieve 28% or less with automatically fail the module.
- For modules at NQF levels 8, 9 and 10:
Students need to attain an overall module mark of between 40% and 48% AND achieve at least 40% in their summative assessment. Students who achieve 38% or less will automatically fail the module.
- Where students meet the above performance standards, the result symbol will reflect as a Supp granting entry into this opportunity
Please take note of the conditions for a supplementary assessment/ resubmission opportunity:
- Although students are not required to apply for this supplementary assessment/ resubmission opportunity, there is a R550.00 fee applicable per module for students who qualify and sit/ resubmit in the Supplementary/Resubmission opportunity.
- A supplementary opportunity can only be taken in the summative period associated with the module (i.e., if your module runs in Term 1 you must attempt the supplementary opportunity in that period and not in Term 2 or Term 1 of the next year unless an appropriate concession is in place).
- The mark for the supplementary opportunity will be capped at 50% and will become the final module mark excluding any formative contributions.
- It remains the student’s responsibility to check eligibility for a supplementary opportunity.
