How do I qualify for a supplementary exam/resubmission?

Students must achieve the summative subminimum AND obtain an overall (final) module mark of between 40-48% to qualify for a second attempt (supplementary/resubmission).

Subminimum requirements:

  • Modules at NQF levels 5, 6, and 7 (undergraduate) require students to achieve at least 30% in the summative assessment. Students who achieve 28% or less will automatically fail the module (FES).
  • Modules at NQF 8, 9, and 10 (post-graduate and LAW4) students must achieve at least 40% in the summative assessment. Students who achieve 38% or less will automatically fail the module (FES).

It is the student’s responsibility to check if they qualify for the supp/resubmission (SUPP).

A fee of R550 is charged for each supplementary exam/resubmission where performance standards are met. Students do not need to apply for this opportunity.
